One more step

A little treat for fans who enjoyed Hero of Rome. This is the first page of the sequel, Defender of Rome, and anyone who read the first book will realise that all is not as it seems.

The proof read copy of the MS appeared in the post today. I now have a fortnight to make any last minute changes and give it a couple more reads while two professional proof readers do the same thing for the publisher.

Wish me luck!

I went all goosy when I read that first page. I can hardly wait. I do indeed wish you luck, not that you need it, Doug, as your natural talent will, once again, win you through. I wish you health and the strength to carry on as one of best new(ish) writers of our day. I hope you know by now that it's not false flannel.

Your friend and avid fan

Cheers Gwenda, I really appreciate that. Defender of Rome was a tough one to write because the goalposts were changed when I was halfway through.
Speaking of health and strength, I need to get back to the gym. Sometimes it's as if the work chair has shackles on it!

Thanks again and great to hear from you. I hope you're keeping well,

All the best

Doug

Awesome! Can't wait. I just started Heroes of Rome, so looking forward to the sequel. (I've often wondered what happened to Rufus! Hehe!)

As Gwenda said, you don't need luck, you're natural. You have a "fan" in me already.
